FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Feb. 6, 2019
Aircraft Guaranty Corporation (AGC) is sad to announce the loss of the company’s founder, Dr. Connie Lee Wood. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Wood passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at his home in Onalaska, Texas. Born July 16, 1948 to John and Ella Wood in Alva, Oklahoma, he proudly served his country for 28 years, holding many illustrious positions and earning numerous military decorations and medals until he officially retired July 16, 2008.
Dr. Wood’s formal education consisted of a Doctorate from Northwestern University, a Master of Science in Business Administration from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Maryland. His business accomplishments were just as notable, including: founding Aircraft Guaranty Corporation; publishing articles in many worldwide aviation journals; and making the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives & Professionals (2005-2006).
Dr. Wood applied his military background and aviation expertise to start AGC alongside his wife Mary in 1989. They founded the international aviation trust company to provide a safe and acceptable way of registering aircraft in the United States. Based on their strong work ethic and impeccable service standards, Aircraft Guaranty Corporation has grown to be a renowned trust company led by long-time colleague Debbie Erwin-Mercer who bought the company in December of 2014. AGC now controls over one billion in aircraft value across sixty countries as its 30th year in business approaches.
Dr. Wood was remembered by family and friends at a memorial service January 31 and will receive full military honors at the National Cemetery in Houston, Texas, at a date and time to be determined and posted with Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Locke Wood; step-daughter, Dwana Peters; brother-in-law – Paul Locke and wife Brenda; and sisters-in-law – Margaret Alford, Jean Locke and Lois Byrne.
Donations in Dr. Connie Lee Wood’s memory can be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church, P. O. Box 818, Onalaska, Tx 77360. Sympathy cards can be sent to Cochran Funeral Home; 406 Yaupon, Livingston, Texas 77351.
